BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Jayci Andrews has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
A native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Andrews placed first in both the 100-meter hurdles (14.75) and the 400-meter run (1:01.42) at the 11th Annual Eastern Invitational this past weekend. Her time in the hurdles marked a season-best and currently ranks 12th in all of Division III.
Andrews also ran a leg on the Bears’ winning 4x100-meter relay along with sophomore Farah Larinard (Boston, Mass.) and juniors Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.) and Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) The foursome posted a time of 50.35 seconds.
Andrews currently ranks 12th in all of Division III in the 100-meter hurdles and 16th in the 400-meter hurdles. She is also third in New England in the 100-meter hurdles and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles.
The MASCAC Athlete of the Week honor marks the 16th of Andrews' career including five outdoor distinctions.
In upcoming action, the BSU outdoor track & field teams host the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships on Saturday at Swenson Field.
