Jayci Andrews Named MASCAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University junior Jayci Andrews has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Andrews eclipsed her own BSU 60-meter hurdles record for the third time this season and captured the meet title in the event at the Lyons Invitational hosted by Wheaton College this past weekend. The Plymouth, Massachusetts product posted a time of 9.01 seconds as she broke her previous indoor record of 9.03 seconds set recently at the Tufts Invitational.

Andrews also placed first in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 1:00.30 and ran the opening leg on the Bears’ winning 4x400-meter relay squad along with sophomore Tess Miller (Uxbridge, Mass.) and juniors Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) and Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.). The foursome recorded a time of 4:17.66.

Andrews currently ranks third in New England in the hurdles and sixth in all of Division III.

Andrews has qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the hurdles, 200 and 400. She has also qualified for the NEICAAA Championships in the hurdles.

The MASCAC Athlete of the Week honor marks the 13th of Andrews' career including nine indoor distinctions.

The indoor schedule continues for the BSU women's track & field team on Saturday as the Bears compete at the Wheaton Invitational.
