Gilbreath, Andrews, Madden Garner All-New England Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Juniors Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) and Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.), and sophomore Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) each garnered All-New England honors on Saturday at the Division III New England Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by MIT.

Gilbreath captured the New England title as she placed first in the shot put with a toss of 42 feet, 10.75 inches (13.07m).

Andrews earned All-New England accolades in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles. She placed second in the 100 hurdles with a school-record and finals time of 14.28 seconds as she eclipsed her previous mark of 14.44 seconds set in Friday's preliminaries. Andrews, who currently ranks fourth in all of Division III in the 100 hurdles, also finished sixth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:03.83.

Madden placed fifth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:10.48.

The Bears tied for 12th place in the team standings with 25 points. The host Engineers won the meet title with 161 points, followed by Williams College in second place (69 pts.) and Coast Guard Academy in third (60 pts.).

Next weekend, qualifying members of the BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete at the NEICAAA Championships hosted by Dartmouth College.
