Women's Track & Field Wins Four Events, Andrews Eclipses Hurdles Mark at Wheaton Invitational

NORTON, Mass. -- Junior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles for the fourth time this season to lead the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team at the non-scoring Wheaton Invitational on Saturday at the Haas Athletic Center.

Andrews captured the meet title in the hurdles with a finals time of 8.93 seconds as she broke her previous BSU indoor record of 9.01 seconds set just last weekend at the Lyons Invitational also held at Wheaton. Andrews currently ranks second in New England and fourth in all of Division III in the event.

Andrews also placed first in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 59.74 seconds.

Junior Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) captured top honors in the shot put with a season-best toss of 43 feet, 1.75 inches (13.15m), while classmate Patricia Healion (Medford, Mass.) recorded the top mark in the high jump with a career-best leap of five feet, 1.75 inches (1.57m).

Next Saturday, the BSU women's indoor track & field team will compete at the Wesleyan Invitational. Qualifying members of the squad will compete at the NEICAAA Championships held on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 2-3) at the Reggie Lewis Center.
