Andrews Eclipses Hurdles Mark at Tufts Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. -- Junior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles to lead the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team at the non-scoring Tufts Invitational on Saturday at the Gantcher Center.

Andrews won the meet title in the hurdles with a finals time of 9.13 seconds. She posted a preliminary time of 9.03 seconds to eclipse her previous school indoor mark of 9.06 set in December at the season-opening UMass Boston Open.

Andrews also finished third in the 200-meter dash (27.14) and ran a leg on the Bears' first place 4x200-meter relay squad along with sophomore Tess Miller (Uxbridge, Mass.) and juniors Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) and Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.). The foursome posted a season-best time of 1:50.91.

Miller added a fourth-place showing in the 600-meter run (1:44.66), while Molly McNamara placed fourth in the triple jump (32'6.5"/9.92m).

Junior Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) captured the meet title in the shot put with a mark of 41 feet, 3.25 inches (12.58m). Gilbreath also posted a season-best distance of 45 feet, 9.25 inches (13.95m) in the weight throw to place third in the event.

Sophomore Molly Dewar (Grafton, Mass.) finished fifth in the weight throw (32'8.25"13.01m), while classmate Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) placed fifth in the 3,000-meter run (11:03.85).

Next Saturday, the Bears compete at the Wheaton Invitational.
