Women's Indoor Track & Field Competes at RIC Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team competed at the non-scoring RIC Invitational hosted by Rhode Island College and held on Saturday at Providence Career & Technical High School.

Junior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) placed first in both the 400-meter dash (1:00.34) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.09).

Sophomore Tess Miller (Uxbridge, Mass.) captured top honors in the 600-meter run (1:43.02), while senior Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) placed first in the 1,000-meter run (3:10.02) and junior Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) posted the top throw in the shot put (42'11"/13.08m). Miller and Grattan qualified for the Division III New England Championships in their respective events.

Gilbreath also qualified for DIII New Englands in the weight throw (45'3"/13.79) as she placed fifth at the meet.

Junior Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.) finished second in the triple jump with a Division III New England qualifying mark of 35 feet, 2.5 inches (10.73m).

Senior Julianna DeVito (North Windham, Conn.) and sophomore Molly Dewar (Grafton, Mass.) qualified for DIII New Englands in the shot put. DeVito placed fifth (36'7.5"/11.16m) at the meet, while Dewar finished sixth (36'2"/11.02m).

The Bears are off until Saturday, January 13th when they compete at the Tufts Invitational.
