Samantha Richner Headed to NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) will be competing in the high jump at the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The championships will be held on Friday, March 10th and Saturday, March 11th at the Al B. Carius Track on the campus of North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.

The women's high jump is slated to get underway at 1:00 PM (CST) on Saturday afternoon.

Richner is seeded 14th in the high jump. She recorded her qualifying and BSU school-record mark of five feet, seven inches (1.70 meters) at the season-opening UMass Boston Invitational back on December 3rd. 

Richner is making her second straight appearance at an NCAA Division III Track & Field Championship meet. Last spring, she earned All-American honors with an eighth place finish in the high jump (5'5.25"/1.67m) at the DIII outdoor championships at Wartburg College.

Richner also holds the BSU outdoor record for the high jump (5'6.5"/1.69m) and the indoor mark in the pentathlon (3,195 pts.).

For each woman’s individual event contested at the NCAA Championships, including the pentathlon, the top 17 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
