Samantha Richner Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Samantha Richner has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

A native of Hanson, Massachusetts, Richner placed eighth in the heptathlon (second among Division III student-athletes) at the Holy Cross Multi-Meet last week with an overall score of 3,857 points.

Richner tallied 795 points in the high jump (5’5”/1.65m), 773 points in the 100-meter hurdles (15.53), 715 points in the 200-meter dash (26.95), 548 points in the shot put (33’8.75”/10.28m), 540 points in the long jump (16’2.25”/4.93m) and 486 points in the 800-meter run (2:47.85).

Richner's times in the 200 and the hurdles were both career best. She also posted season-best marks in the 800 and long jump, and equaled her season-high leap in the high jump.

Richner is currently tied for 23rd place in all of Division III in the high jump and ranks 35th in the heptathlon.

The BSU women's outdoor track & field team is back in action on Saturday as the Bears will compete at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships hosted by Westfield State University.
