Richner, Bucknell to Compete at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Senior Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) and sophomore Ellie Bucknell (New Bedford, Mass.) have officially qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships which will be held from May 25th to May 27th at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

The meet is co-hosted by the University of Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.

For each women's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition

Richner will be competing in the high jump at an NCAA Championship meet for the third straight time. She qualified for the indoor championships this past March and earned All-American honors at the outdoor championships last spring.

Richner is seeded 19th as she recorded her qualifying (and school record tying) mark of five feet, 6.5 inches (1.69 meters) at the Division III New England Championships on May 5th while competing in the heptathlon.

Bucknell is making her debut at the NCAA Championships. She is seeded 13th in the javelin and recorded her qualifying mark of 138 feet, six inches (42.3 meters) at the NEICAAA Championships on May 12th.

The women's javelin is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 3:00 PM, while the women's high jump is slated to get underway at 10:30 AM on Friday morning.
