Tess Miller Named MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Tess Miller has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

Miller captured a pair of conference individual titles in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash at the MASCAC Championships this past weekend. The Uxbridge, Massachusetts product posted a season-best time of 26.06 seconds in the 200 and a season-best time of 58.41 seconds in the 400.

Miller also ran a leg on the Bears' MASCAC champion 4x400-meter team along with sophomore Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.) and seniors Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) and Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.). The foursome recorded a season-best time of 4:06.01. 

The MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolade marks Miller's 11th of the 2016-2017 academic year. She also garnered the honor an impressive eight times during the indoor track & field season.

On Friday and Saturday, qualifying members of the BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Williams College.

Miller has qualified for DIII New Englands in both the 200 and the 400.
