BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Ellie Bucknell has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.
Bucknell placed second in the javelin at the season-opening Bridgewater State Bears Invitational this past weekend. The New Bedford, Massachusetts posted a mark of 127 feet, eighth inches (38.91m) in her collegiate debut.
Bucknell, who also qualified for the Division III New England Championships and the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships in the event, currently ranks 13th in all of Division III in the javelin.
The BSU women's outdoor track & field team will be back in action on Saturday when the Bears compete at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic.
