BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fifth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Sydney Bennett has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Bennett eclipsed her own school record in the shot put this past weekend at the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet. The North Attleboro, Massachusetts product captured top honors at the meet with a toss of 44 feet, six inches (13.56m) as she broke her previous mark of 44 feet (13.41m) set earlier this season at the Division III New England Championships.
Bennett, who finished the indoor campaign ranked 21st in the shot put, bettered her BSU record an impressive five times this season.
After a couple of weeks off, Bennett and her teammates will open the 2017 outdoor season at home as the track & field teams will host the BSU Bear Invitational on Friday, March 24th and Saturday, March 25th.
