Sydney Bennett Named MASCAC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Sydney Bennett has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Bennett captured the New England title and broke her own school record in the shot put at the Division III New England Championships held this past weekend at MIT. The North Attleboro, Massachusetts product posted a mark of 44 feet (13.41m) to place first at the meet and eclipse her previous school standard of 43 feet, 4.5 inches (13.22m) set earlier this season at the Tufts Stampede.

Bennett, who currently ranks 14th in all of Division III in the shot put, has broken her BSU school record an impressive four times this season.

This upcoming weekend, Bennett and the BSU women's indoor track & field team will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships which will take place at the Reggie Lewis Center.
