Bucknell Places 11th in Javelin at NCAA Championships

GENEVA, Ohio -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Ellie Bucknell (New Bedford, Mass.) placed 11th in the javelin at the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships held on Thursday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Bucknell, who was competing in her first NCAA championship meet, posted a mark of 132 feet, 11 inches (40.51 meters) on her first throw of the day.

Conditions at the meet were not ideal as it was raining with temperatures in the low 50s. 

Junior Mark Kate Duncan of Moravian College captured the national title in the javelin with a toss of 151 feet, 9.25 inches (46.26 meters).

BSU senior Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) will compete in the high jump at the NCAA Championships on Friday morning at 10:30.
