Women's Track & Field Captures ECSU Invitational Title

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- The Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team won the meet title at the 10th Annual ECSU Invitational hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University on Friday afternoon.

The Bears posted a score of 175 points as they outdistanced Division II Franklin Pierce University which placed second with 151 points.

Seven different Bears captured top honors in their respective events at the meet.

Senior Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.19 seconds, while senior Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) placed first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.09. Sophomore Kassidy Campbell (Norton, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' track winners with a time of 1:09.48 in the 400-meter hurdles.

In the field events, freshman Molly Dewar (Grafton, Mass.) recorded the top mark in the discus throw with a personal-best toss of 122 feet, 11 inches (37.47m). Senior Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I.) posted a throw of 107 feet, one inch (32.63m) to win the javelin, while sophomore Meaghan Luongo (Attleboro, Mass.) placed first in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 0.75 inches (4.59m), and sophomore Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.) had the longest leap in the triple jump, 34 feet, 2.75 inches (10.43m).

The Bears are off until, Saturday, April 29th when they compete at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships hosted by Westfield State University.
