Women's Track & Field Competes at UMD Corsair Classic

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team competed at the non-scoring UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic on Sunday.

Senior Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) captured top honors in the high jump with a leap of five feet, 2.25 inches (1.58m), and placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.45 seconds.

Richner qualified for the Division III New England Championships in both events.

Senior Sydney Bennett (North Attleboro, Mass.) recorded the top distance in the shot put with a toss of 41 feet, 8.5 inches (12.71m).

Bennett hit the qualifying mark for both DIII New Englands and the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships for the second straight week.

Freshman Tess Miller (Uxbridge, Mass.) placed second in the 400-meter dash with a DIII New Englands qualifying time of 1:00.21. Senior Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) finished third in the event with a time of 1:00.88.

The Bears' 4x400-meter relay featuring Lane, Miller, senior Sabrina Rizzo (Peabody, Mass.) and sophomore Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) placed second overall with a time of 4:19.05.

Freshman Molly Dewar (Grafton, Mass.) placed second in the discus with a personal best mark of 119 feet, two inches (36.32m), while senior Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I.) finished sixth in the javelin with a career best throw of 115 feet, six inches (35.20m).

Dewar and Maymon both qualified for DIII New Englands in their respective events.

Senior Sheila O'Sullivan (Westwood, Mass.) finished fourth in the hammer throw with a heave of 138 feet, seven inches (42.25m).

Sophomore Kassidy Campbell (Norton, Mass.) placed second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:10.31) and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.76). Senior Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) added a third place showing in the 800-meter run (2:26.03).

Next weekend, the Bears will compete at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by AIC.
