Richner Garners All-American Honors in High Jump at NCAA Championships

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Bridgewater State University junior Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) earned All-American honors in the high jump on Friday at the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

Richner tied for eighth place with a leap of five feet, 5.25 inches (1.66m). She finished in a tie with sophomore Vanessa Blanchard of the University of Redlands. The top eight placewinners in each event garner All-American status.

Prior to Richner achieving the feat, Molly Rouillard was the last BSU women's track & field athlete to earn All-American accolades. Rouillard placed seventh in the 1,500-meter run at the 2013 outdoor championships.

BSU freshman Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) finished tenth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.85 seconds. Andrews was seeded 15th in the event.
