Amy Delgado Named Head Women's Track & Field Coach

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University Director of Athletics, Dr. Marybeth Lamb, announced today that Amy Delgado has been named as the head coach for the Bears’ women’s track and field program.

“We are pleased and excited to be elevating Amy to the position of head coach for women’s track and field,” said Lamb.  “She brings a wealth of knowledge to the position, not only in the sprint events, but also in her leadership and experience in developing national caliber athletes.”

Delgado, who served as an assistant coach (sprints) at BSU each of the past two seasons, is a graduate of UMass Lowell where she was a four-year sprinter for the River Hawks from 2008 to 2012 as well as a team captain during her junior and senior years.

Amy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health from UMass in 2012.  She served as the chair of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), was named to the Dean’s List each of her last three academic years and was a Jane Pankovich Austin Endowed Scholarship Recipient in 2012.

Delgado was also named Northeast-10 Track Athlete of the Week in 2011, and was a two time member of the NE-10 All-Conference Track & Field Team in 2011 and 2012. She also competed at the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships five straight seasons (indoor/outdoor) between 2010 and 2012.

Amy completed the teaching licensure program at BSU this past December (2013) and will be starting her professional career as a health teacher at Attleboro High School in September.
