Women's Track & Field Competes at BU John Thomas Terrier Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. -- Several members of the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team competed at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday.

The non-scoring meet, which took place at BU's stellar banked track and indoor facility, featured strong competition from several top Division I, II and III schools from around the region as well as local track clubs.

 Sophomore Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) tied for 18th in the high jump with a leap of five feet, one inch (1.55 meters).  Richner also finished 66th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.95 seconds.

Freshman Tori O'Dea (South Dennis, Mass.) placed one spot ahead of Richner in the hurdles as she also checked in with a time of 9.95 seconds.

The Bears' relay team of senior Ashley Aldred (Saugus, Mass.) and sophomores Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.), Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) and Abbie Pustis (Andover, Mass.) placed 30th in the 4x400 with a time of 4:07.73.

Pustis also posted a time of 1:20.88 in the 500-meter dash to finish 35th overall, while Perry placed 95th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.97 seconds. Lane and Aldred finished 85th (1:00.79) and 101st (1:01.89), respectively, in the 400-meter dash.

Junior Theresa Connolly (North Andover, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' meet entrants with a time of 2:24.46 in the 800-meter run to capture 82nd overall.

On Saturday, members of the BSU women's track & field team will compete at the Tufts Stampede.
