Women's Tennis Edges Eastern Nazarene, 5-4

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The visiting Bridgewater State University women's tennis team edged Eastern Nazarene College, 5-4, in a non-conference match on Thursday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.

The Bears wrap up regular season play with an overall record of 10-5, while the host Lions fall to 10-5.

Bridgewater captured two out of the three doubles flights and split the six singles matches to record the win.

Seniors Bojana Roman (Somerset, Mass.) and Alison Scagnelli (Sutton, Mass.) paired up for an 8-6 victory at second doubles, while sophomore Angelique Gray (Osterville, Mass.) and junior Rachel Tarantino (Mansfield, Mass.) posted an 8-4 decision at the third flight.

In singles play, freshman Olivia Sweeney (Taunton, Mass.) moved up a spot to the fifth flight and recorded a 7-6 (7-4), 3-10, 10-4 win. Tarantino, competing in her first singles match of the season, won in straight sets at number six, 6-2, 6-0, while senior Amanda Strickland (Plymouth, Mass.) notched a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at the fourth flight.

The Bears will await word on the seedings for next week's Little East Conference Tournament. Tournament pairings are expected to be announced either Saturday or Sunday evening.
