Women's Tennis Posts 7-2 Win over Suffolk

WINCHESTER, Mass. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University women's tennis team posted a 7-2 victory over Suffolk University on Thursday afternoon at the Winchester Lawn & Tennis Club.

The Bears (2-2) swept the three doubles matches and captured four of the six singles flights.

The BSU senior tandem of Alisha Silva (Taunton, Mass.) and Amanda Strickland (Plymouth, Mass.) earned an 8-3 win at first doubles, while the senior pairing of Bojana Roman (Somerset, Mass.) and Alison Scagnelli (Sutton, Mass.) recorded an 8-2 triumph at the second flight. Sophomore Angelique Gray (Osterville, Mass.) and junior Rachel Tarantino (Mansfield, Mass.) teamed up for an 8-2 victory at third doubles.

Roman breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 straight set win at second singles, while Scagnelli cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at number three. Strickland also won in straight sets at the fourth flight, 6-3, 6-0. Gray rounded out the Bears' singles winners with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at the fifth spot.

The host Rams (0-3) picked up singles wins from junior Delaney Dunlap (Hingham, Mass.) at number one (2-6, 6-4, 11-9) and sophomore Danlyn Medou (Inglewood, Calif.) at number six (6-2, 6-3).

The Bears entertain the University of Southern Maine in a Little East Conference match on Saturday afternoon at one.
