Women's Tennis Falls to Johnson & Wales, 8-1

RIVERSIDE, R.I. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to non-conference foe Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday afternoon at the Centre Court Tennis Club in Riverside, Rhode Island.

The host Wildcats improve to to 3-0 on the young season, while the Bears fall to 1-2.

Freshman Olivia Sweeney (Taunton, Mass.) picked up the lone win of the match for the visitors. Sweeney won in straight sets at the sixth singles flight, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).

Johnson & Wales swept the three doubles matches and captured five of the six singles flight to earn the win. 

Both teams are back in action on Thursday afternoon. The Bears travel to Suffolk University for a four o'clock match with the Rams, while the Wildcats head to UMass Dartmouth for a 3:30 match with the Corsairs.
