Bears Well Represented on All-LEC Women's Tennis Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Seven Bridgewater State College student-athletes earned spots on the 2008 Little East Conference Women's Tennis All-Conference Team which was announced today by Little East Director of Communications, Jack Holleran.

Juniors Lauren Donnelly (Centerville, MA), Catarina Rosa (Fall River, MA) and Paulina Ucher (Webster, MA), and sophomore Danielle Linscott (Uxbridge, MA) captured first team honors in the singles flights, while Rosa and senior Paula Araujo (Fall River, MA) earned first team honors at third doubles.

Donnelly, a two-time Little East Player of the Week, posted an overall record of 10-3 including a 6-1 conference mark competing at second flight singles.  Rosa and Ucher both finished the 2008 season with identical 14-1 records with perfect 7-0 LEC marks in their respective fourth and fifth flights. Competing at the sixth flight, Linscott concluded the year at 10-5 overall and 6-1 in the conference. BSC's third doubles team of Rosa and Araujo were terrific all season long going 10-2 with a 5-0 Little East record.

The Bears' top flight doubles team of Donnelly and sophomore Jessica Francis (West Barnstable, MA) were named to the all-conference second team, along with the second flight doubles pair of Ucher and sophomore Rachel Elman (Rehoboth, MA).  Donnelly and Francis finished at 9-7 overall and 5-2 in the Little East, while Elman and Ucher went 10-3 with a 5-1 conference record.

Bridgewater wrapped up the 2008 campaign with a record of 12-4, falling just one victory shy of the program record of 13 wins set in 1986 and equaled in 1989.  BSC finished in second place in the Little East standings with a 6-1 conference mark.  Seeded second at the Little East Tournament, the Bears knocked off Salem State and Rhode Island College before bowing to UMass Dartmouth in the tournament title game.
