Donnelly Named LEC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College junior Lauren Donnelly has been named the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
A native of Centerville, Massachusetts, Donnelly received the player of the week honor for her outstanding performances in the Bears' wins over Regis College and Little East foe Southern Maine last week.
Competing at second flight singles, Donnelly knocked off Jessica Jeffery of Regis College in straight sets (6-4, 6-0) as BSC opened the 2008 season with an 8-1 win over the Pride. Donnelly then helped the Bears post a 9-0 Little East victory over Southern Maine as she won in straight sets over Erica Robertson, 6-0, 6-2.
Donnelly teamed up with sophomore Jessica Francis for an 8-1 win in second flight doubles in the win over Regis. The duo then moved up to the first flight spot and breezed to an 8-0 doubles victory over Southern Maine's top pairing of Amanda Coleman and Chelsea Cutler.
