Women's Swimming & Diving Downs Elms, 140-64

CHICOPEE, Mass. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team cruised to a 140-64 victory over Elms College on Saturday at the Partyka Natatorium.

The Bears (4-3) placed first in nine of the 11 events.

Sophomore Ripley Devers (North Attleboro, Mass.), junior Allison Hunt (Norton, Mass.), sophomore Jordyn Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.) and Katie Werra (East Taunton, Mass.) opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay as the foursome posted a time of 2:24.12.

The quartet of senior Mackenzie Coogan (Assonet, Mass.), sophomore Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.), senior Megan Bonney (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) and freshman Kelly Burns (Natick, Mass.) won the meet-ending 200 freestyle relay with a time of 2:05.86.

Hunt and Coogan also added individual wins in the 50 freestyle (30.16) and 50 butterfly (32.50), respectively. 

Sophomore Selin Marino (East Greenwich, R.I.) captured top honors in both the 800 freestyle (10:35.03) and the 400 freestyle (5:07.81), while senior Adi Tobias (North Attleboro, Mass.) was the first to touch the wall in the 50 backstroke (35.38) and 50 breaststroke (38.96).

Freshman Hannah Geoffrion (Barnstable, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' individual event winners as she placed first in the 200 freestyle (2:34.58).

The Bears are off until Saturday, December 7th when they host a tri-meet with Gordon College and Norwich University.
