Women's Swimming & Diving Posts 132-119 Win over UMass Dartmouth

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team posted a 132-119 victory over visiting UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday evening at the Dr. Mary Jo Moriarty Pool.

The Bears won seven of the 15 events as they improved to 2-1 in dual meet competition on the young season.

Senior Megan Bonney (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) captured a pair of individual events and was a part of two winning relay squads to pace Bridgewater State.

Bonney was the first to touch the wall in both the 100 freestyle (58.19) and 50 butterfly (29.06).

The Bears' relay team featuring sophomore Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.), senior Adi Tobias (North Attleboro, Mass.), freshman Hannah Geoffrion (Barnstable, Mass.) and Bonney opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay as the foursome posted a time of 2:00.86.

Senior Mackenzie Coogan (Assonet, Mass.), Bonney, sophomore Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.) and junior Allison Hunt (Norton, Mass.) recorded a winning time of 3:56.75 in the 400 freestyle relay to close out the meet.

Tobias also grabbed top honors in the 50 breaststroke (34.59), while Coogan added a first-place performance in the 50 freestyle (25.69).

Senior Alexa Wilson (Centerville, Mass.) won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 193.60 points.

In upcoming action, the Bears head to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday for the Louise Goodrum Invitational.
