Seventh Annual Michael Arsenault Memorial Relays

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University swimming and diving teams hosted the Seventh Annual Michael Arsenault Memorial Relays on Friday evening at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.

In the season opening meet, Bridgewater State finished first (162 pts.) in the women's team standings followed by UMass Dartmouth (86 pts.) and the UMass Lowell Club Team (58 pts.). UMass (118 pts.) won the men's meet with Bridgewater (110 pts.) finishing second and UMass Lowell (106 pts.) third.

The relay meet was created in 2012 to honor the BSU swimming and diving program's only All-America Swimmer, Michael Arsenault. Michael, who passed away in March of 2008 at the age of 52, earned NCAA Division III All-America honors in the 50 freestyle in 1976.

The Bears won a combined ten relay swimming events on the evening.

The women captured the 300 freestyle crescendo relay, the 200 freestyle relay, the 300 butterfly crescendo relay, the 300 backstroke crescendo relay, the 300 breaststroke crescendo relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

On the men's side, the Bears captured the 4x100 individual medley relay, the 200 medley relay, the 100 freestyle relay and the 300 backstroke crescendo relay.

Seniors Haley Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) and Danielle Souza (Mansfield, Mass.), and juniors Megan Bonney (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) and Mackenzie Coogan (Assonet, Mass.) were each part of three winning relays on the women's side.

Senior Jameson Rose (Somerset, Mass.), juniors Sean Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) and Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.), and sophomores Casey Cross (Attleboro, Mass.) and Michael Leung (Wakefield, Mass.) were all part of two winning relays for the BSU men's squad.

The Bears are back in the pool on Saturday, October 27th when they host a tri-meet with Eastern Connecticut State University and Regis College.
