Women's 200 Medley Relay, 50 Backstroke Records Fall at NEISDA Championships

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Junior Haley Nolan (Lowell, Mass.), sophomore Adi Tobias (North Attleboro, Mass.), senior Abbie Grant (Mansfield, Mass.) and junior Danielle Souza (Mansfield, Mass.) set the school record in the 200 medley relay as the Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving competed during day three of the NEISDA Championships on Saturday at the URI Tootell Aquatic Center.

The foursome posted a finals time of 1:54.81 as well as a preliminary time of 1:56.10 as they eclipsed the previous BSU mark of 1:56.71 set by Erica Robinson, Katrina Scholtz, Jillian Coache and Bryn Morwick in 2007. Nolan, Tobias, Grant and Souza placed seventh in the event at the meet.

Nolan also broke her own school record in the 50 backstroke as she posted a time of 28.06 during the opening leg of the 200 medley relay. Nolan bettered her previous mark of 29.09 set earlier this season at the BSU Invitational.

The BSU women's squad is in ninth place in the team standings with 331.5 points after day three. Roger Williams University leads the way with 1,040 points, while Simmons College (996 pts.) and Keene State College (779 pts.) round out the top three.

The four-day championship event wraps up on Sunday morning with the preliminary round getting underway at ten.
