Nolan Leads Women's Swimming at NEISDA Day Two Finals

KINGSTON, Mass. -- Junior Haley Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) had a hand in two school records and earned all-league honors in two events to lead the Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team at the 2018 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships on Friday night at the Tootell Aquatic Center on the URI campus.

Nolan broke the school record and garnered All-NEISDA accolades in the finals of the 200 backstroke as she placed seventh in the event with a time of 2:13.79. Nolan eclipsed Lindsay Devereaux's previous BSU standard of 2:14.89 set back in 2006.

Nolan also finished sixth and earned All-NEISDA honors in the 500 freestyle with a finals time of 5:21.06.

Junior Danielle Souza (Mansfield, Mass.), senior Abbie Grant (Mansfield, Mass.), sophomore Mackenzie Coogan (Assonet, Mass.) and Nolan eclipsed the program record in the 200 freestyle relay with a finals time of 1:42.37 as they placed sixth in the event. The foursome surpassed their own standard of 1:43.05 set earlier today in the preliminaries.

The BSU women's squad is in seventh place in the team standings with 199.5 points after day two. Roger Williams University leads the way with 580 points, while Simmons College (561 Pts.) and Keene State College (460 Pts.) round out the top three.

The four-day championship event continues on Saturday morning with the preliminary round getting underway at ten.
