Women's Swimming & Diving Sweeps Tri-Meet

WESTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team won eight events as the Bears swept a tri-meet hosted by Regis College on Saturday.

The Bears (6-8) posted a 153-131 victory over the host Pride and cruised to a 203-56 win over Husson University.

The foursome of junior Haley Nolan (Lowell, Mass.), sophomore Adi Tobias (North Attleboro, Mass.), senior Abbie Grant (Mansfield, Mass.) and sophomore Mackenzie Coogan (Assonet, Mass.) opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay (1:38.49).

Coogan also captured top honors in both the 200 freestyle (2:05.56) and the 500 freestyle (5:39.56), while Nolan placed first in the 50 backstroke (29.23), Tobias in the 50 breaststroke (35.88) and Grant in the 100 butterfly (1:05.78).

Junior Danielle Souza (Mansfield, Mass.) was the first to touch the wall in the 100 freestyle (58.99).

Coogan, senior Becca Foster (Billerica, Mass.), Souza and Nolan closed out the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:46.43).

The Bears are off until next Saturday when they host a tri-meet with Babson College and Norwich University.
