Women's Swimming & Diving Hosts BSU Bears Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team hosted the non-scoring BSU Bears Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Moriarty Pool.

The meet marked the end of the regular season for the Bears.

Sophomores Emily Garven (Norfolk, Mass.), Haleigh Kent (Marshfield, Mass.) and Julia Gagne (South Hadley, Mass.) all qualified for the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Division II/III Championships.

Garven qualified in four events this afternoon, the 50 backstroke (32.63), the 100 freestyle (1:00.95), the 50 butterfly (31.69) and the 50 freestyle (28.70). Kent posted qualifying performances in both the 50 butterfly (29.48) and the 50 breaststroke (37.49), while Gagne qualified in the 50 breaststroke (37.09).

The Bears are off until Friday, February 17th when they compete at the three-day NEISDA Championships. Sixteen members of the BSU women's swimming & diving team have qualified for the championship meet.
