WESTON, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's swimming and diving team split a double dual meet on Saturday afternoon. The Bears posted a 90-39 win over host Regis College and dropped a 70-67 decision to Eastern Connecticut State University.
The Warriors of Eastern Connecticut improve to 9-1 in dual meets on the season, while the Bears go to 8-8. The host Pride fall to 2-8.
BSU freshman Mikaela Ross (Andover, Mass.) grabbed top honors in both the 50 backstroke (32.14) and the 400 individual medley (5:29.29).
Sophomore Brooke Pacheco (Bristol, R.I.) placed first in the one-meter diving competition as she posted an 11-dive score of 351.65 points. She was just ten points shy of current BSU diving coach Jennifer Jackson's one-meter school mark of 361.85 points for an 11-dive event set in 2008.
Next weekend, the Bears host the BSU "Last Gasp" Invitational. The diving portion of the meet will take place on Friday night starting at 6:30, while the swimming events will get underway on Saturday afternoon at two.
