Second Half Outburst Lifts Bears Past Plymouth State, 4-2

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Senior midfielder Taryn Sullivan (Hanover, MA) recorded her first career multi-goal
game to lead the Bridgewater State College women's soccer team to a 4-2 win over Plymouth State University this afternoon in Bridgewater. Sullivan notched a pair of goals in the game as the Bears exploded for four goals in the second half to erase a 1-0 halftime deficit.
Junior forward Megan Williamson (Ludlow, MA) and sophomore midfielder Jacklyn Wisocky (Brockton, MA) also added a goal and an assist apiece for the Bears who improved to 7-5-1 on the season. Plymouth opened the scoring in the 35th minute on a goal by sophomore forward Stacy DiSabato (Manchester, NH). Sophomore midfielder Lauren Lavery (Nashua, NH) assisted on the only goal of the opening stanza as the Panthers took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Bridgewater quickly erased that deficit as the Bears scored twice in a span of just 53 seconds early in the second half. Wisocky tied the game up at 1-1 with an unassisted tally in the 49th minute. Sullivan then gave BSC the lead for good as she took a feed from Williamson, turned and fired a shot that snuck past the Plymouth keeper and trickled over the goal line.
Less than five minutes later Williamson potted her 8th goal of the season as she one-timed a cross off the foot of Wisocky and easily beat the Plymouth netminder. Junior midfielder Kelsea Anderson (Rye, NH) pulled the Panthers to within a goal in the 65th minute off an assist from freshman midfielder Rachel Kindl (Granby, CT). Bridgewater, however, responded less than a minute later as Sullivan notched her second goal of the game off a corner kick served by sophomore forward Christine Soucy (Rockland, MA). Bridgewater held the edge in play for much of the game as the Bears out-shot the Panthers by a margin of 33 to 12. BSC also held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Bridgewater junior netminder Ashley Spingler (Haverhill, MA) turned aside 4 shots between the pipes for the Bears as she improved to 2-0 on the season. Plymouth State senior Ashley Riberdy (Manchester, NH) made 11 saves in goal for the Panthers.
Bridgewater State is back in action on Saturday afternoon at 4 PM as the Bears travel to Salem State College for a
key MASCAC game versus the Lady Vikings. Plymouth (5-8) hosts UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday at 1 in a
match-up of Little East Conference opponents.
