Higgins Places Seventh, Maxwell Eighth at NCAA Northeast Regionals

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Freshman heavyweight Ryan Higgins (Billerica, Mass.) placed seventh and sophomore 165-pounder Fox Maxwell (Wilmington, Mass.) finished eighth in their respective weight class on Sunday at the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Wrestling Championships held this weekend at Johnson & Wales University.

After going 2-1 on Saturday, Higgins dropped a tough 3-2 decision to Nick Day of WPI in the consolation quarterfinals. He then pinned (2:48) Wesleyan's Harrison Karp in the seventh place match. Higgins completed his rookie campaign with an overall record of 27-10 (.730) with eight pins.

After going 3-1 on Saturday, Maxwell was pinned (2:08) by Jack Reilly of Trinity College in the consolation quarterfinals. He then dropped an 8-3 decision to Southern Maine's Juan Vernaza in the seventh place match. Maxwell finished the 2018-2019 season with an overall record of 23-13 (.639).

Both Higgins and Maxwell garnered All-Northeast Region honors.

The Bears finished in 16th place in the team standings with 22.5 points.
