Wrestling Competes at NEWA Futures Tournament

BRISTOL, R.I. -- Freshman Caleb Lamarre (Brockton, Mass.) went 2-2 out of the 133-pound weight class to lead the Bridgewater State University wrestling team on Sunday at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Futures Tournament hosted by Roger Williams University.

Lamarre tied for fifth place in the 133-pound weight class as he went 2-2 on the day. After a first round setback, Lamarre posted a 15-0 (3:07) technical fall victory over Shale Ring of Norwich University and then pinned (0:52) Jake Tappen of WPI. Lamarre dropped an 8-5 decision to Springfield's Joel Zambrano in his final bout of the day.

Next weekend, the BSU wrestling team will compete at the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional hosted by WPI.
