Wrestling Drops Pair of Matches to WPI, Coast Guard

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University wrestling team dropped a pair of matches to WPI and Coast Guard Academy on Saturday afternoon at the WPI Sports & Recreation Center.

The Bears (4-9) lost to host WPI by a margin of 47-0 and dropped a 40-9 decision to Coast Guard. WPI was ranked 21st in the most recent National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Poll, while Coast Guard was ranked 22nd.

Freshman 149-pounder Fox Maxwell (Wilmington, Mass.) picked up his first collegiate win as he posted a 6-5 decision over Coast Guard's Patrick Moynihan.

Junior 157-pounder Logan Larsen (Chanhassen, Minn.) picked up a win by disqualification against Chris Sullivan of Coast Guard. Sullivan was ranked first in the most recent New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Individual Rankings and tenth in the InterMat NCAA Division III Individual Rankings.

The Bears are off until next Friday evening (5:00 PM) when they travel to Rhode Island College for a tri-meet with the host Anchormen and Trinity College.
