Wrestling Places 12th at Messiah Petrofes Invitational

GRANTHAM, Pa. -- The Bridgewater State University wrestling team finished in 12th place at the prestigious Messiah Petrofes Invitational.

The Bears posted a score of 28 points. Hosted Messiah captured the meet title with 202 points. The University of Mount Union (193 pts.) and Waynesburg University (127 pts.) rounded out the top three teams.

Sophomore Henry Oberlander (Mansfield, Mass.) was the only BSU grappler to advance to Saturday's action. Oberlander was pinned by Derek Beitz of host Messiah in the semifinals, and then dropped a 15-6 major decision to Waynesburg's Mike Mahon in the consolation semifinals. In the fifth-place match, Oberlander was pinned by Sam Solomon of Alderson Broaddus University.

Oberlander went 2-3 at the tournament and is now 11-6 on the season. He accounted for 11 of the Bears' 28 team points.

The BSU wrestling team is off until Wednesday, January 10th when the Bears travel to Western New England University for a quad meet.
