SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University wrestling team posted a 2-2 record at the five-team meet hosted by AIC on Saturday.
After dropping a 24-15 decision to Kutztown University, the Bears responded by knocking off regional rivals Roger Williams University, 24-13, and the University of Southern Maine, 27-18. Bridgewater wrapped up the day with a 33-15 loss to host AIC.
Senior Zachary Bates (Leyden, Mass.) led the way for BSU at the 174-pound weight class as he went 3-0 with a pin. Bates is now 17-4 on the season with five pins.
Junior 125-pounder Ken Francis (New Bedford, Mass.), sophomore 149-pounder Sean Fields (Norwalk, Conn.) and junior Andrew Frazer (West Hartford, Conn.) at 197 all finished at 3-1. All three of Frazer's victories were by pin. Francis improved his record on the season to an impressive 18-3.
Bridgewater is now 2-4-1 in dual meet action on the year. With the win over Southern Maine, the Bears also improve to 1-0-1 in the Pilgrim Wrestling League.
