BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Bridgewater State College senior Tim Ferreira has been named the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Wrestler of the Week for his performance at the MIT Duals this past weekend.
Ferreira was a perfect 3-0 as he helped the Bears improve to 9-4 on the season in dual meet action with wins over Plymouth State, Norwich University and host MIT.
A native of Danbury, Connecticut, Ferreira pinned Josh St. Ours of Plymouth State and earned wins by decision over Jake Kirk-Elkin of Norwich and Glenn Geesman of MIT. Geesman had been ranked second in New England in the heavyweight class while Ferreira was third.
On the season, Ferreira is currently 17-5 with 35 takedowns, 20 escapes and 3 pins. His 17 victories this season gives him 94 for his career as he is closing in on the 100-win milestone. Only three other wrestlers in Bridgewater State history have reached the milestone as he is trying to become the first heavyweight at BSC to do so.
