McDonough Headlines Bears' Five All-MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Selections

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Junior attack Victoria McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.) garnered Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Player of the Year honors to highlight Bridgewater State's five representatives on the 2019 All-MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Team.

McDonough is joined on the All-MASCAC First Team by senior midfielder Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) and sophomore defender Kelsi Brennan (Dedham, Mass.).

Senior midfielder Lisa Moynihan (Norwood, Mass.) and senior defender Kerrin O'Leary (Millbury, Mass.) earned All-MASCAC Second Team honors to round out the Bears' five all-conference selections.

Ettridge is making her fourth straight appearance on the All-MASCAC First Team while this is McDonough's third consecutive selection to the all-conference team. McDonough was a first team honoree in 2018 and a second team selection in 2017. Moynihan was also named to the All-MASCAC First Team a year ago.

McDonough recorded 52 goals and 43 assists for 95 points in her third season of collegiate competition. The Marshfield. Massachusetts native also had 33 ground balls, 92 draw controls, and 26 caused turnovers. McDonough ranks 26th in all of Division III in points per game (5.94) and 29th in assists per game (2.69). She also finished second in the MASCAC in points, assists and draw controls, as well as third in goals and eighth in caused turnovers.

In 69 games over her first three season with the Bears, McDonough has amassed 125 goals and 133 assists for 258 points as well as 204 draw controls, 87 groundballs and 60 caused turnover. She ranks fourth all-time at Bridgewater State in both assists and draw controls, and is ninth in scoring.

Ettridge, notched 57 goals and eight assists for 65 points in 2019 to go along with 33 draw controls, 26 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers. The Marshfield. Massachusetts native ranks second in the conference in goals and fifth in points.

In 73 games over four seasons with the Bears, Ettridge totaled 205 goals and 45 assists for 250 points in addition to 92 ground balls, 134 draw controls and 54 caused turnovers. She is sixth all-time in program history in goals and tenth in scoring.

Brennan, who hails from Dedham, Massachusetts, anchored a defensive unit that allowed seven or fewer goals in four of the Bears' seven conference games. She ranks fifth in the MASCAC in caused turnovers with 27. Brennan also posted 35 ground balls and contributed a pair of goals to go along with an assist and five draw controls.

In 35 games over two seasons with the Bears, Brennan has produced 65 ground balls and 49 caused turnovers.

Moynihan posted 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points in her final season with the Bears. She also recorded 59 groundballs, 73 draw controls and 27 caused turnovers. The Norwood, Massachusetts native ranks fourth among the MASCAC leaders in both draw controls and caused turnovers.

In 69 career games, Moynihan finished with 15 goals, nine assists, 181 ground balls, 158 draw controls and 86 caused turnovers. She is third all-time at BSU in ground balls, fourth in caused turnovers and sixth in draw controls.

O’Leary rounds out the Bears' five all-conference selections as she also played an integral part of the BSU defense. The Millbury, Massachusetts resident finished her senior campaign with 40 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers to go along with three goals and an assist. She ranked eighth in the MASCAC in caused turnovers.

In four seasons on the BSU lacrosse field, O’Leary finished with 96 ground balls, 65 caused turnovers, nine goals and seven assists.

The BSU women's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2019 campaign with an overall record of 12-5, including a 6-1 mark in the MASCAC. Seeded second in the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears dropped a 14-8 decision to third-seeded and eventual conference champion Westfield State University in the tournament semifinals.
