Ettridge, McDonough Lead Women's Lacrosse to 14-7 Win over Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. -- Senior midfielder Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) scored five goals and junior attack Victoria McDonough notched three goals and four assists to lead the visiting Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team to a 14-7 non-conference victory over Roger Williams University on Tuesday evening at Bayside Field.

The Bears improve to 8-4 on the season, while the host Hawks fall to 10-4.

Bridgewater led 7-4 at the break and 9-6 with just under 15 minutes remaining in the game. Back-to-back tallies by Ettridge and freshman attack Katherine Tracy (Marion, Mass.) gave the Bears a five-goal cushion (11-6) with 8 1/2 minutes left to play. After Maeve Gills scored for the Hawks at the 7:21 mark to cut the deficit to 11-7, Ettridge answered for the visitors less than a minute later. McDonough and Ettridge both found the back of the net in the closing minutes to put the game away.

Sophomore midfielder Emily Hiller (Marion, Mass.) added two goals and an assist for the Bears, while senior attack Mackenzie Manning (Hingham, Mass.) scored a pair of goals. Tracy finished with a goal and an assist, as did junior attack Hayley White (Dracut, Mass.).

Sophomore attack Devon Sarazin (Falmouth, Mass.) led the Hawks with four points on three goals and one assist.

Bridgewater State finished with a 25-17 shot advantage as well as a 13-10 edge in draw controls. McDonough led all players with seven draws.

BSU junior goalkeeper Hayley Barner (Westwood, Mass.) made five saves between the pipes as she notched her eighth win of the season and 22nd of her career.

Junior netminder Lydia Nelson (Center Moriches, N.Y.) turned aside seven shots in the setback for Roger Williams.

Sophomore midfielder Kelsi Brennan (Dedham, Mass.) led the Bridgewater State defensive effort with three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls. Senior midfielder Lisa Moynihan (Norwood, Mass.) forced two turnovers and added four ground balls and a pair of draw controls. Moynihan also dished out an assist.

In upcoming action, the Bears travel to MASCAC foe Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Wednesday night for a seven o'clock game with the Buccaneers. The Hawks head to Endicott College on Saturday to take on the Gulls at one in a Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup.
