Women's Lacrosse Opens MASCAC Schedule with 19-3 Win over MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team opened Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play with a 19-3 victory over MCLA on Saturday afternoon at Shewcraft Field.

The Bears improve to 7-2 (1-0 MASCAC) on the season with their fourth straight win, while the host Trailblazers falls to 1-2 (0-1 MASCAC).

Ten different players found the back of the net for the visitors as the Bears dominated play from start to finish scoring the first 12 goals of the contest and finishing with a 31-7 shot advantage.

Junior attack Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) paced Bridgewater State with a game-high five goals to go along with an assist, while sophomore attack Victoria McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.) scored a goal and dished out a game-high six assists.

The Bears also held a decided 20-3 advantage in draw controls with McDonough recording a game-high seven and Ettridge and junior defender Lisa Moynihan (Norwood, Mass.) tallying four apiece.

Junior attack Mackenzie Manning (Hingham, Mass.) and freshman attack Lacey Dinning (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) each added three goals and an assist for Bridgewater, while freshman attack Emily Hiller (Marion, Mass.) checked in with a pair of goals and a helper.

Senior attack Gabby Reinold (Braintree, Mass.), senior midfielder Haley Riley (Wakefield, Mass.), sophomore attack Hayley White (Dracut, Mass.), sophomore defender Megan Sylvia (New Bedford, Mass.) and senior midfielder Brooke Buckner (Foxboro, Mass.) also scored for the Bears.

Sophomore Hayley Barner (Westwood, Mass.) and freshman Alex Karp (Marlborough, Mass.) combined to make two saves between the pipes for Bridgewater with Barner picking up her seventh win of the season.

Senior midfielder Mackenzie Cutler (East Amherst, Mass.) potted two goals for MCLA, while senior attack Rachel Green (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) also scored for the hosts. Junior netminder Zoe Elwell (Guilderland, N.Y.) turned aside seven shots in the setback.

In upcoming action, the Bears host MIT on Tuesday evening at 6:30, while the Trailblazers travel to Fitchburg State University on Friday night for a seven o'clock MASCAC game with the Falcons.
