Women's Lacrosse Downs Emerson, 19-5

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. – The Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 19-5 victory over Emerson College on Thursday at SpringFling 2018  in Englewood, Florida.

The Bears improve to 3-1 on the year as they went 2-0 during the Florida trip. The Lions fall to 0-3 as they have been outscored 56-15 this season.

Sophomore attack Victoria McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.) paced Bridgewater State with two goals and a game-high five assists for seven points. Senior attack Gabby Reinold (Braintree, Mass.) and sophomore attack Hayley White (Dracut, Mass.) each finished with four goals and an assist for the Bears, while junior attack Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) potted three goals and added an assist. Ettridge now has 99 goals in her career.

Eight different student-athletes scored for Bridgewater with McDonough, Reinold, White and Ettridge leading the way. Freshman midfielder Emily Hiller (Marion, Mass.) and freshman attack Lacey Dinning (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) added two goals apiece for the Bears, while junior attack Mackenzie Manning (Hingham, Mass.) and senior midfielder Brooke Buckner (Foxboro, Mass.) each found the back of the net.

Junior defender Lisa Moynihan (Norwood, Mass.) led a solid defensive effort as she registered four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers to go along with a game-high seven draw controls. McDonough checked in with five draws as well as three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

Sophomore goaltender Hayley Barner (Westwood, Mass.) made three saves to record her third win of the season.

The Bears are off until next Wednesday evening when they entertain MIT at 6:00 PM.
