Erica Adams Named MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Coach of the Year

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University head coach Erica Adams has been selected as the 2017 Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Coach of the Year.

In her second year as head coach of  the women's lacrosse program, Adams led the Bears to their second straight MASCAC regular season championship.

The BSU women's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2017 season with an overall record of 12-7 and a perfect 7-0 regular season mark against MASCAC opponents.

Under Adams' guidance, senior Melissa Renauld (Framingham, Mass.) earned MASCAC Player of the Year honors, while Renauld, seniors Taylor Brown (Commack, N.Y.) and Allie Forman (Marblehead, Mass.), sophomore Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) and freshman Victoria McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.) were each named to the All-MASCAC Team.

In two seasons with the Bears Adams is 24-12 with an impressive 13-1 record against MASCAC teams. In 2016, she guided her squad to the MASCAC Tournament Championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Adams is the first BSU women's lacrosse skipper to earn MASCAC Coach of the Year accolades. Previously, Erika Smith was named conference coach of the year in 2011 when the Bears were a member of the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA).
