BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College freshman attack Jenny Jones has been named the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) Rookie of the Week.
A native of Framingham, Massachusetts, Jones notched 12 goals and three assists for 15 points in a 2-1 week for the Bears which included a pair of NEWLA wins over Westfield State College and Becker College.
Jones netted five goals in BSC's 24-11 win over Westfield, a goal and two assists against Tufts University, and six goals and an assist in the Bears' win over Becker. She is the fifth BSC player to capture a NEWLA weekly honor this season and the second Rookie of the Week.
Through nine games this season, Jones leads the Bears in goals with 26 and is tied for second on the team in points with 32. She is also third in the NEWLA in goals per game (2.89) and tied for fifth in scoring (3.56 ppg).
Bridgewater State is currently 6-3 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in conference play as they sit atop the NEWLA standings. The Bears travel to conference foe Elms College on Saturday afternoon at 1 PM.
