Chanelle Melton joined the BSU women's basketball coaching staff prior to the 2019-2020 season. Chanelle was also named as the Bears’ Manager of Diversity, Inclusion & Compliance in September of 2021. Melton, who hails from Brockton, Massachusetts, implements programming, services, and activity options for both student-athletes and staff to create and ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment. She also manages and implements all intercollegiate compliance and certification efforts for all student-athletes mandated by the NCAA, the university, and the athletic conferences.

 

Chanelle is a 2018 graduate of Bridgewater State where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance. She also earned a Master of Education in student affairs counseling from Bridgewater State in 2020.

After completing her undergraduate degree, Chanelle worked in the BSU Academic Achievement Center from August 2018 to July 2020 where she managed a caseload of first-year students. She also advised students with majors and undeclared majors, facilitated registration programs, and helped educate students on tools and resources to persist through their time at Bridgewater State.

Chanelle also completed an internship at Stonehill College in the Office of Intercultural Affairs while working on her Master’s. She assisted, organized, and facilitated programs and events on campus, and had the opportunity to serve and assist student groups and advocate for underrepresented students. Chanelle also worked as an Enrollment Specialist at Central State University in Ohio to help with a variety of student needs and concerns surrounding admission and registration.

In addition to her new position as the Manager of Diversity, Inclusion & Compliance, Chanelle also serves as an assistant coach on the Bears’ women’s basketball coaching staff.

Chanelle was a four-year letterwinner for the BSU women’s basketball team from 2013 to 2018. She tallied 1,048 points in 107 career games to go along with 510 rebounds, 116 assists, 49 blocked shots and 112 steals. Chanelle helped the Bears capture the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournament title and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament in each of her first two seasons. She was a two-time All-MASCAC selection, including first team honors for the 2017-2018 campaign, and played in the New England Women's Basketball Associaton Senior All-Star Game.
