BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman guard Olivia Dziadyk has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.
Dziadyk averaged eight points and four rebounds in two games for the Bears last week while shooting 60% from both the floor (6-10) and behind the arc (3-5). The Wakefield, Massachusetts product notched eight points, three rebounds, a pair of assists and steal in a 80-42 setback to sixth-ranked Tufts University. She also tallied eight points and five rebounds in a 68-65 victory over Dean College.
Through eight games this season, Dziadyk is averaging 3.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in 16.5 minutes per game off the bench while shooting 38.5% (10-26) from the floor and 37.5% (6-16) from behind the arc (6-16).
The BSU women’s basketball team is currently 2-6 on season. The Bears travel to Wentworth on Thursday afternoon for a four o'clock game with the Leopards.
