Kailyn Aguiar Named MASCAC Women's Basketball Player of The Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior forward Kailyn Aguiar has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Women's Basketball Player of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

Aguiar averaged 15.5 points, ten rebounds (6.5 offensive), one steal and one blocked shot in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears while shooting 56% (14-25) from the floor. The Acushnet, Massachusetts product posted a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds (eight offensive) to go along with one assist, two steals and a pair of blocks in an 80-37 MASCAC win over MCLA. She also notched 12 points and eight boards (five offensive) in a dramatic 69-65 conference road victory over Westfield State University.

Through 21 games this season, Aguiar is averaging ten points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 58% (94-162) from the floor. She currently ranks second in the MASCAC in field goal percentage, third in rebounding and tenth in steals.

In 48 games over two season with the Bears, Aguiar has amassed 369 points, 355 rebounds, 53 assists and 55 steals. She is also a career 57% (158-277) shooter at Bridgewater State.

Before transferring to BSU, Aguiar played two seasons at Plymouth State University where she tallied 158 points, 190 rebounds, 27 assists and 20 steals in 47 games. All told, Aguiar has 527 points, 545 rebounds, 80 assists and 75 steals in 95 collegiate contests.

The BSU women's basketball team is currently 10-11 on season and 5-3 in the MASCAC. The Bears travel to Salem State University on Wednesday evening for a 7:30 conference game with the Vikings.
