Kailyn Aguiar Named MASCAC Women's Basketball Player of The Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University senior forward Kailyn Aguiar has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Women's Basketball Player of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

Aguiar averaged 17 points, 13.5 rebounds (6.5 offensive), three assists and two steals while shooting 56% (14-25) from the floor and 75% (6-8) at the free throw line in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears. The Acushnet, Massachusetts product posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds as well as three assists and a steal in a 56-41 MASCAC win on the road over Salem State. She also recorded her second double-double of the week and eighth of the season with 18 points and 16 boards to go along with three assists and three steals in a 70-51 conference victory over Framingham State.

Through 23 games this season, Aguiar is averaging 10.6 points, nine rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 58% (108-187) from the floor. She currently ranks second in the MASCAC in field goal percentage, third in rebounding and eighth in steals.

In 50 games over two season with the Bears, Aguiar has amassed 403 points, 382 rebounds, 59 assists and 59 steals. She is also a career 57% (172-302) shooter at Bridgewater State.

Before transferring to BSU, Aguiar played two seasons at Plymouth State University where she tallied 158 points, 190 rebounds, 27 assists and 20 steals in 47 games. All told, Aguiar has 561 points, 572 rebounds, 86 assists and 79 steals in 97 collegiate contests.

The BSU women's basketball team is currently 12-11 on season and 7-3 in the MASCAC standings (3rd place). The Bears travel to Worcester State University on Wednesday evening for a 7:30 conference game with the Lancers.
