Women's Basketball Ranked 4th in the Northeast

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The third regional rankings have been released by the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Committee, and the Bridgewater State College Bears have jumped up four spots as BSC is currently ranked fourth in the Northeast Region.

The Bears have won six straight games and 13 out of their last 14.  BSC went 3-0 last week including their second win of the season against regionally ranked Salem State College.  Bridgewater wrapped up the program's first MASCAC regular season title since the 1985-86 season with a 64-53 win over Fitchburg State last Saturday.

Bridgewater State enters this week's MASCAC Tournament with a record of 20-4 and an 11-1 mark in conference play.  The Bears, who are the top seed in the tournament, will have a first round bye and will host the semifinals and championship game on Friday and Saturday.  BSC will take on fifth seeded Westfield State in their semifinal match-up on Friday night at 6 PM.

Tufts University (22-2) still holds on to the top spot in the poll followed by the University of Southern Maine (23-2), Amherst College (23-2), BSC, Brandeis University (17-7), Bowdoin College (18-7), Salem State College (20-5) and Eastern Connecticut State (21-4).
